Driver Education in the 21st Century

Foundation Executive Director Named

Atlanta, GA—The Joshua Brown Foundation was organized last year and successfully passed Joshua’s Law in the Georgia General Assembly to successfully pass Joshua’s Law and raised community dollars to open a technologically advanced teen driving classroom at Cartersville High School. . The Board of Directors of the Joshua Brown Foundation has recently named Patricia Wilder as Executive Director of the non-profit organization dedicated to teen driving safety.

“Our goal is to make sure every teen knows how to make good decisions and has the skills to drive safely,” says Alan Brown, Chairman of the Board of Directors and father of his son, Joshua, who was killed in a single-car crash two years ago. “Pat’s experience and abilities will assist us in creating an inclusive network of community, non-profit, and private sector partnerships to accomplish the goals of saving the lives of our children.”

The Joshua Brown Foundation has uniquely brought together the most nationally recognized teen driving education, curriculum and technology professionals to create the driver’s education classroom of the future. The current pilot classroom in Cartersville High School combines simulator, computerized curriculum, crash reduction and behind-the-wheel experience for teens over a 9-week course. The curriculum also provides the ability to measure the success of driving skills by tracking accident rates over a 2-3 period of time.

“The Joshua Brown Foundation has created a national focus with the passage of Joshua’s Law and Georgia stands as the leader in creating the future of driver’s education curriculum,” says Wilder.  “Sharing family, community and government responsibility, we can efficiently and effectively go about the business of providing the training that can and will save lives.”

Wilder brings the administrative experience of working on teen driving and youth safety issues as a Senior Vice President of a national non-profit organization, as well as having served on over 20 non-profit boards and appointed commissions. As an Arizona State Legislator, she chaired House and Senate Committees dealing with the welfare, safety and protection of children and families.
